Emergency Flu Kits Important For Preventing the Spread of H1N1

The last thing you want to do when you're sick is run to the store for medicine. That's why local health departments are saying it's important to plan ahead for a potentially active flu season with an emergency flu kit.

Denis O'Farrell, Health Care Liaison, Southeastern Public Health: "What we're seeing right now is, 99% is the H1N1 influenza."

Denise O'Farrell is a health care liaison for the Southeastern Health District, she says being prepared for the flu is important this year more than ever.

Denise O'Farrell: "It is important to be ready ahead of time.'

That means putting together an emergency flu kit, including medicines like ibuprofen and acetaminophens.  It's also important to have plenty of sanitizing wipes, or even making your own with diluted bleach.
